Airlines GSA
The airline was established in 1992 and is wholly
owned by the Russian government. In 2006 the Russian government
merged Rossiya Airlines with Pulkovo Aviation Enterprise, under
the Rossiya name (or GTK Russia) that started flying on October
29 under one flag. The merger process began in December 2004. In
November 2006 it was announced that the merger had been completed
and Rossiya Airlines was registered in Saint Petersburg on 9 October
2006 has a branch in Moscow and has 54 representations in Russia
and abroad.
Pulkovo Aviation was named after the area where it is located,
along with the village of Pulkovo and Pulkovo Observatory. The
airline began on 24 June 1932 with the landing of two aircraft
from Moscow at the newly-constructed Shosseynaya Airport south
of Leningrad. Air travel expanded rapidly, and in 1939 Shosseynaya
Airport operated 29 routes, carrying 6,305 passengers, 708 tons
of cargo, and over 333 tons of mail.
